Surviving Winter 2020

Thank you!

Thank you so much to everyone who donated to our Surviving Winter Campaign. Over £7,000 was donated, which meant we were able to support some of the most vulnerable people in Milton Keynes through the winter months. We wouldn’t have been able to do that without your support, so thank you for making a difference this winter.

One of the grants we gave was to Winter Night Shelter MK, who work hard to support the homeless community in Milton Keynes. Usually they arrange emergency overnight shelter between November and March in community halls and churches, but because of social distancing restrictions, they were unable to do so this year. The grant awarded meant they could pay for emergency hotel rooms on the coldest nights, and provide winter survival kits for those that have no choice but to sleep on the streets, as well as benefit from the support of a Welfare Manager to ensure they had what they needed. These life saving measures were made available because of the generous donations of our supporters and the tireless work of Winter Night Shelter.

One guest said ““You’re the only person I’ve seen face to face for help in weeks. I really struggle with filling in forms and trying to get hold of people by phone, I don’t know what I’d do without your help.”

Thank you also to Localgiving, who set up a match fund campaign in November, meaning that many of the Surviving Winter donations helping vulnerable people were doubled.
