Hearing the beneficiary voice: celebrating impact across Milton Keynes

At Milton Keynes Community Foundation, trustees begin their board meetings by hearing directly from organisations supported through our funding fairness approach. These wonderful conversations are a simple but powerful reminder of why the Foundation exists – keeping people, communities and real-world impact at the heart of our actions and decision-making.

Recent presentations highlighted the breadth of activity taking place across the city. Baby Basics shared how support for newborn starter packs is helping families through challenging times. YMCA Youth & Community demonstrated the value of investing in young people through mentoring and youth clubs. At the same time, Arthur Ellis showed how accessible mental health and wellbeing services are reaching more people and families than ever before.

Trustees also heard how Camphill has used Community Foundation support to help unlock wider investment and improve facilities for residents, while Action 4 Youth has transformed its outdoor education centre so that more people can benefit from it throughout the year. MK Ananda Club showcased the power of culture and community connection, and MK Money Lifeline highlighted the life-changing impact of practical debt advice and support for people facing financial difficulty.

Together, these stories show that Foundation funding does far more than address immediate needs. It helps organisations grow, strengthens local partnerships, supports volunteers, attracts additional funding and creates lasting benefits for communities across Milton Keynes.
