Lavendon Village Hall is accessible to all members of the local community. It especially welcomes elderly and retired supporters, either as members of village organisations or through community events that are carefully designed to appeal to all age groups. Modern disabled access and facilities are available. The MK Community Foundation has already enabled us to make great improvements to the hall acoustics so that it is now much more appealing for the hard of hearing in particular. With the easing of pandemic restrictions, the management team is keen to provide a programme of film and various other entertainments. These are specifically aimed at welcoming back and encouraging the return of all members of the community, especially our elderly demographic, many of whom are on their own and/or have missed out on normal social contact over the past year or so. The Hall works on a charitable, not-for-profits, basis and so all fundraising helps to provide affordable and welcoming facilities for all age-groups in the community.

Recent grants and fundraising has targeted equipment to support people learning to row. However, in order to remain competitive at the highest level and therefore attract experienced rowers, there is a need to invest in a senior women's coxed four. A current project involves working with Green Gym to enable people who do not have access to open spaces and gardens to meet others and carry out physical activity in a supported way to help their own health and well being. During Covid there has been considerable evidence of the benefits of outdoor activity and mental well being from being active and meeting other people. In order to keep this work going The Fred Roche Foundation is supplying plants and shrubs to be planted in the garden areas of CMK and if we are able to receive match funding this would be used immediately in the upcoming planting season and bring joy not just to the Green Gym gardeners but also to visitors to CMK.
