As part of the UK-wide #iwill campaign, which aims to make social action a part of life for as many young people as possible by 2020, The National Lottery Community Fund and the UK Government are making money available to groups to help support these aims. MK Community Foundation will be matching this funding, making sure our young people get a chance to get involved with social action in our city.
This is a great opportunity for groups who are passionate about making social action a part of life for younger people in Milton Keynes, to apply for between £1,000 and £5,000 of funding for projects that will:
- Create social action opportunities for young people aged 10-20, or 25 for disabled young people.
- Last for the maximum of one year, including one-off events
- Engage young people in volunteering, campaigning, or fundraising, to help them get involved in social action.
- Involve young people in projects that are youth-led, progressive, socially impactful, embedded, reflective, and challenging, to help young people recognise the value of social action.
Funding can be for the projects themselves, including work online, or core costs. It cannot be used for statutory work, capital costs/equipment, cash incentives, activities promoting party political activates, individual sponsorship, activities generating a private profit, or projects which work with only one faith or include the promotion of religious belief.
The #iwill campaign was set up in 2013 by the charity ‘Step Up To Serve’, after government research highlighted how public and private sectors could increase the number of young people engaging in social action. Currently, 4 in 10 young people regularly engage in social action, including taking part in activities such as fundraising, campaigning and volunteering. The aim of the #iwill campaign is to increase these numbers to 6 in 10 by the year 2020.
If you are a non-profit organisation that is focused on helping young people within Milton Keynes get more involved in social action, then you can apply for this funding through this application form.
Your application must be submitted by 4 pm Wednesday 9th October 2019 to be considered
