MK Community Foundation is pleased to announce that we have awarded £15,300 of funding to support this year's Pride MK. This fantastic event will take place on Saturday 14th September 2019 in Campbell Park 12noon till 10 pm.
The Chair of the Pride:MK committee, Helen Pritchard said, “We are overwhelmed by the support we’ve received from the community so far! We’ve had people offering to volunteer as well as many agencies and businesses who are keen to be involved. MK is so ready for this event, and we’re looking forward to sharing more information with everyone"
The Pride:MK committee consists of three different community organisers & services providers; the social Meetup group “LGBT:MK”, the Facebook social group “Milton Keynes LGBT Breakfast”, and the Milton Keynes based LGBTQ+ charity Q:alliance.
In a statement from the Pride MK Committee, they outlined their aims - 'Our goal with Pride:MK is to engage and empower the local LGBTQ+ community and our allies. We will do that by creating a free and safe space to celebrate our contributions to Milton Keynes, by improving visibility and education around LGBTQ+ issues, and by building healthy relationships between the communities in Milton Keynes.
This free event is an accessible family-friendly celebration of the LGBTQ+ community in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.
