2019 Members' Reception Held

On Wednesday 3rd July, we held our annual Members’ Reception at Milton Keynes Gallery, in their beautiful ‘Sky Room’.

Our Members’ reception gives us the opportunity to say a huge thank you to all of the people who have supported us throughout the years to enable us to support the local community in Milton Keynes. It was wonderful to see so many members together in one place, catching up and having discussions in the stunning setting of MK Gallery's ‘Sky Room’. Our guests were lucky to be treated to a Private Viewing of the Paula Rego: Obedience and Defiance exhibition. The selection of work, that spans her career since the 1960’s, focuses on the moral challenges to humanity, from gender discrimination to political tyranny.

The speeches of the evening began with MK Community Foundation’s President, Alexander Boswell, welcoming everyone and expressing gratitude to them for being philanthropists and highlighting the huge impact that MK Community Foundation’s grant making programmes has made to local community groups.

Ian Revell, Chief Executive of MK Community Foundation, extended a huge thank you to a room of people who have been instrumental in changing the landscape of Milton Keynes. Ian gave a few examples of some of the different grants that the community foundation has awarded and the way in which they are supporting our local community, from supporting Milton Keynes Christian Foundation with their ‘Urban Bee-lievers’ to supporting MK Gallery for their Changing Places accessible toilet.

Hywel Jones, Director of Development and Communications from MK Gallery, spoke to us about the design of the gallery and the collaboration between local artists and the architects who worked together to design a space that celebrated the local landscape and championed homegrown talent.

If you attended, thank you so much for your time and we hope to see you again next year for another wonderful evening. Our members reception is a fantastic way to say a huge thank you to our members, who are a vital part of helping our community to thrive.
