Milton Keynes Community Foundation would like to thank Milton Keynes Business Leaders Partnership and the attendees of Milton Keynes Business Achievements Awards (MKBAA) for their extremely generous £7,500 raised, which will contribute to MK Community Foundation’s ‘MK Business Leaders Fund’.
MK Community Foundation’s ‘MK Business Leaders Fund’ was set up in order to focus on projects and local organisations that work to improve the business skills and enterprise for people living within Milton Keynes. Another aim of the fund is to tackle the issue of unemployment locally, by supporting groups that focus on helping people in that area.
This year, the fund has supported M & G Productions for a fashion show that will help develop the skills of the members participating. The fund supported filming and photography for the day, graphic and leaflet design, venue hire and volunteer expenses for the day. The show will ultimately help the participant’s network and be creative, and have the confidence to promote and sell their products after the event.
M & G Productions is a voluntary organisation that aims to create employment opportunities and promote creative networking and media skills within the Milton Keynes community.
The MK Business Leaders Fund has also supported Worktree to fund career ‘workout’ sessions for all students in years 7 – 10 in Sir Herbert Leon Academy where the students can broaden their knowledge on how to obtain the jobs they aspire to, and the best routes to take in education to achieve them.
Worktree provide employability education and training for young people to learn more about different routes into areas of employment and to help them succeed by “developing their career awareness, aspirations and employability skills” (Worktree)
MK Community Foundation was presented the cheque at the MKBAA 2019 Launch Event on Thursday 6th September, where the sixth annual event that celebrates the success of businesses across Milton Keynes was launched.
