MK Community Foundation are extremely proud to announce Joe Turney as this year’s Sports Bursary winner! In an unprecedented move MK Community Foundation has awarded the bursary of £2,000 to 15-year-old Joe for the second time!
Karting - Double Champion
It has been a highly successful and thrilling year for Joe. He took his first steps into Europe and participated in the Belgian, Netherlands and Luxembourg (BNL) Championship series where he demonstrated his driving expertise on three unfamiliar tracks eventually being crowned 2016 BNL Champion, an extraordinary achievement at a first attempt. Back on home soil, after moving up into a new class, Junior Rotax, Joe maximised his driving ingenuity and skill dominating over seven gruelling rounds to become official British Champion! We’re extremely proud to have supported Joe and recognise being a European and UK championship winner in the same season is a rare and fantastic achievement and a measure of the Joes amazing talent.
Joe’s Mum Siobhan commented
“I’m so totally thrilled for Joe, to know that we go into 2017 with the additional support of the bursary will enable Joe to buy some of the things he needs to compete. This support can make a big difference and as has been proven it is the tipping point between nearly there and producing a National and a European Champion.”
The decision to award the bursary to Joe again made perfect sense to the panel who realised that this is a pivotal moment in Joe sporting journey.
We are really proud to continue being part of Joe’s sporting development and we’re excited to see his career move up a gear. Joes is currently looking to secure a sponsorship deal and would love to hear from potential sponsors or anyone experienced in securing sponsorship to work with him.
