Friends of the Caribbean

To fund the hire of Conniburrow Community centre to facilitate a Health Awareness Day of events. The organisation plans events that aim to promote good health and the advancement of education, while promoting the Caribbean as a region.

Friends of Hedgerows & Playzone Nursery Parents Association

October 2016 | Awarded: £1,500

To fund the cost of a trip to Southend on Sea, visiting Adventure Land and the Sea Life Centre as well as the regular Toddler Time sessions which help promote learning through play and general socialisation for the children.

The Middle Eastern Cultural Group

October 2016 | Awarded: £1,500

To fund the production costs for the implementation of the Sensory Book Project which is a community project to produce a creative educational tool to be used in schools for children with different special needs.

Shenley Wood Village Sensory Garden Project

October 2016 | Awarded: £200

To part fund development of a sensory garden, to support the needs of residents who have been diagnosed with Dementia/Alzheimer’s disease, memory loss, depression, bereavement & loneliness. The garden will provide tactile experiences like water and planting, to trigger memories and offer pleasure.

Milton Keynes Prison Fellowship

October 2016 | Awarded: £200

To fund a toy kitchen, doll and cot, and a box of toy and drawing activities for the family visiting area at Oakhill. The aim is to create a friendlier environment for children who are visiting with families, so they have something to entertain and occupy themselves with.

The Stables (Wavendon Allmusic Plan)

October 2016 | Awarded: £5,000

To fund the commissioning of a new work for the massed community choir, including the planning of themes involved and the performance from the choir themselves. The work will be in celebration of MK50.

Conniburrow Community Association

October 2016 | Awarded: £1,394

To fund the cost of the Senior Citizens Christmas party which includes the cost of catering, DJ & hall hire. The Club will be joined by volunteers who are helping to set up the event and serve food. The event provides an important chance to socialise for its elderly residents.

Milton Keynes BMX Racing Club

September 2016 | Awarded: £1,900

To part fund a new electronic start system, that will make a crucial impact as to how the race unfolds. A new system will mean that there will be more reliable training and that they can provide better facilities when hosting other clubs.

MK Foodfest

September 2016 | Awarded: £1,500

To fund the purchase or hire of 2 marquees, toilet hire and other pieces of equipment for putting on the festival. The event aims to promote local produce from within 20 miles, and to encourage residents to learn about local food diversity.

The Play's The Thing Theatre Company

September 2016 | Awarded: £4,936

To fund production costs for a new play by Mike Elliston, called 'Austerity - the Musical'. The play explores current day themes of austerity, while being set in the post war period of 1945-51. The aim is to invite response for the audiences idea towards the ideas put forward.

MK Deaf Zone

September 2016 | Awarded: £2,500

To fund the development of a vibrant club for the deaf community, so a number of events can be organised that will help to promote inclusion and raise awareness of deafness to the MK community. The aim is to ultimately break down communication barriers between hearing and deaf people.

SRW Senior Citizens Club

September 2016 | Awarded: £463

To fund the transport needs which will enable them to continue as a club. The transport provided includes coach hire to their Christmas lunch and also to a Mystery afternoon outing. The club allows people who would otherwise struggle to attend social events feel included.
