This is an uncertain time for all of us.
As the COVID-19 pandemic spreads across the globe, it continues to impact on many people’s lives. It is a time when many face not only fears of falling ill but also losing their livelihoods as economies around the world are hit hard by the crisis.
This is no different in Milton Keynes.
It is in challenging times that a community pulls together. However, it is also in these challenging times that the most vulnerable in the community are in most need.
This is why, in partnership with Milton Keynes Council, MK Community Foundation is launching Covid-19 MK Emergency Response Appeal to generate much needed funds to support local community groups who are most affected and vulnerable at this time.
Vital Signs 2019 identified areas of concern around mental health particularly loneliness and children living in relative poverty – both these issues will be heightened during the current situation.
While the government has announced various initiatives to support the families and small businesses through the current period of social distancing, the funding provided will not cover areas of concern such as mental health issues including loneliness, particularly the frail, elderly and vulnerable.
Some people will fall through the gaps.
By donating to this appeal, you will be supporting those who are most in need, struggling to pay for food to feed their families or for a roof over their heads at a time no one should have to go hungry or homeless.
Your generous donations will be used:
-
For charitable purposes in connection with the relief of hardship, isolation or distress caused directly or indirectly by the Covid-19 containment and delay procedures for the benefit of those living and working in the Borough of Milton Keynes
-
To enable community groups to respond to the changing situation that threatens the elderly and vulnerable in our community.
