On Thursday 5th July we held our annual Members reception at the University of Buckingham; paying thanks to our wonderful members and highlighting the inspiring ways in which their generosity has helped the local community and how organisations within Milton Keynes benefit from their support.
The evening reception was generously hosted by Sir Anthony Seldon, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Buckingham, at his beautiful residence. The evening offered the opportunity for us to thank our wonderful supporters, and to celebrate the support that we have been able to provide in the past year. It was wonderful to see so many members together in one place, catching up and having discussions in the stunning setting of the garden.
The speeches of the evening began with Sir Anthony Seldon welcoming everyone and thanking them for coming to his home. Sir Anthony took time to acknowledge a growing partnership between the University and MK Community Foundation going forward, and noted the importance of taking time to reflect and appreciate beauty in life; with a moment taken in silence to pause and focus on our own mindfulness.
The speeches continued with MK Community Foundation’s president, Vice Lord Lieutenant Alexander Boswell DL, expressing the positive impact of being a member and the ways in which peoples generosity can really make a difference to the lives of local people.
Ian Revell, our chief executive rounded off the speeches by extending a huge thank you to our members for their continued support and the difference it makes to local organisations and their beneficiaries in Milton Keynes; our members generosity helped us reach almost £2million worth of support last year to local communities!
Our 2017/18 Annual Review was launched at the reception, recapping on everything MK Community Foundation has achieved last year and our support to the community; from meeting members of the team, reading about our varied bursaries throughout the year, to learning about the different ways in which we support local groups and organisations.
Our 2017/18 Annual Review is available to read here.
If you attended, thank you so much for your time and we hope to see you again next year for another wonderful evening.
