Farewell to our Director of Philanthropy, Jennifer Walker

Farewell to Jennifer Walker

Jennifer has been an instrumental member of our team at Milton Keynes Community Foundation, supporting the entire organisation.

Jennifer took a leading role working with donors and potential philanthropists to inspire meaningful and impactful giving through MK Community Foundations programmes.

Jennifer had an ability to both develop one-to-one relationships that highlight areas of need, to having the energy and gravitas to mobilise national funding such as the #iwill funding, Mars Goodness Knows and Comic Relief.

Jennifer has taken a key role in organising and promoting MK’s involvement in International Women’s Day, a global day of celebration for women. This year, to mark the 100-year anniversary of the Representation of the People Act 1918, Jennifer and her team worked with inspirational women from across the region to deliver personal stories and a copy of Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls into local schools.

Through her role at MK Community Foundation, Jennifer worked closely with the Honorary Structure, sharing her vision for philanthropy by highlighting local needs through using our Vital Signs report (a collection of research about Milton Keynes in an easy to read format).

As Director of Philanthropy, Jennifer was successful in securing £100,000 from Institute of Chartered Accounts in England and Wales (ICAEW) to set up their Social Mobility Fund.

She also worked closely with Tony Byrne from Wealth and Tax Management; securing £50,000 to make a difference to financial education for local people who need it most.

Jennifer also managed and maintained over 70 funds with her team, ensuring fund criteria and donors’ wishes are met.

Jennifer managed the Philanthropy Team, inspiring philanthropic giving and leading on our work with professional advisors, trust transfers and legacies, as well as raising the profile of the Community Foundation movement and our goals to create a positive impact in Milton Keynes.

Last year, the Community Foundation gave £1,999,026 (“roundabout” £2 million) of total support to Milton Keynes. Jennifer and the team are key to this fantastic achievement!

We would like to wish Jennifer the best of luck for the future!
