On 17th November we said goodbye to our Director of Programmes, Bart Gamber, who has decided to move on to pastures new.
Over the past 10 years Bart has been an integral part of MK Community Foundation working on many projects and transforming our programmes offer.
When Bart began working at MK Community Foundation, he took responsibility for our grant-making functions, which at the time consisted of Small and Community Grants and an annual Development Grant. Over the years, with the help of his team, he has been a leading force in developing the changes in our various programmes such as our bursary programme and encouraging groups to join Localgiving.
Many people know Bart for his work on Vital Signs including hosting the national launch of the programme. The Vital Signs reports have transformed our reputation and profile in Milton Keynes and created a resource that has been invaluable to donor recruitment and management, as well as helping to better inform our sector and our city about the genuine needs in our community.
Bart fostered many productive partnerships over the years particularly within the Arts and had a reputation for listening, building trust and creative thinking. He campaigned relentlessly to encourage groups to start thinking more about sustainability and becoming more self-sufficient.
Bart also worked with many of groups investigating the possibility of developing their own buildings, including several who went on to do so through our Community Foundation Land Programme, as well as assisting many organisations to navigate our rent subsidy grant process, helping them to secure tenancies in our various premises, in the city centre and beyond.
We would like to thank Bart for his invaluable contribution to shaping MK Community Foundation over the past 10 years and wish him all the luck for his future.
We also wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that we are adopting a new way of working.
Our Fund Development Team and Programmes Team will be merging to form a new Philanthropy Team. Our new Philanthropy Managers will be responsible for specialist areas within our Vital Sign Categories. We believe, by understanding the needs of our community we can inspire philanthropic giving to support vital work in the community.
