Meet Laura Berrisford, one of our Philanthropy Managers. Laura oversees grant applications in the Vital Signs areas of Arts & Heritage, Education & Work and the Economy. Laura also leads on our Community Car Raffle; working in partnership with Volkswagen UK, centre:mk, Freestone Creative, MK Lightning and our local charities and groups who take part. Laura also oversees the Christopher Hopkins Memorial Music Bursary, working in partnership with MK City Orchestra.
Some of the project highlights of Laura's Year include:
To fund the development of the ‘Inspiration Programme’. It will be a certified educational and personal course for young people to develop skills, knowledge and experience of the wider world and society. It will be offered through schools and colleges to Year 12 students.
To fund the tickets for plays and also refreshments, for 30 members of MK Reader Service in Milton Keynes with disabilities; to offer a chance for the participants to feel included in the community and less isolated.
To fund a project coordinator, who will identify and source volunteer work placements for the long term unemployed, so they can improve their employability prospects and hopefully move into paid employment. The project also helps to improve the client’s confidence and overall well-being.
