Almost £100k Awarded in Grassroots Grants

Almost £100,000 awarded in Grassroots Grants to Milton Keynes Community Groups

Earlier this month the Milton Keynes Community Foundation awarded a further £14,125 in Grassroots Grants. This latest round of awards takes the total to an amount in grants just short of £100,000 that has been awarded to small community groups and charities since we won the funding in July last year.

Grants of between £500 and £5,000 have enabled projects and groups to develop, set up and/or continue to reach out to people across the city helping to enrich and support the lives of local people. This month, a grant award to The Newport Pagnell Brownies has enabled them to fund the cost of a sleepover for the group; and £5,000 to the Electric Picture Palace Project will fund the purchase of equipment for their mobile cinema project, with a longer term view to establish an audience for independent cinema and to get cinema out into the smaller communities. A grant awarded to local Breast Cancer support group Bosom Pals will fund the production of business cards, leaflets and posters to promote their service across the city.  Since they began 16 years ago the group have connected with over 500 local people.  And finally, the grant awarded to AFC Brickhill Rangers Junior Section will cover the cost of buying new football kits, and training equipment for their various teams.

These groups are just four of the eight projects who received a grant in this month. Grassroots Grants aim to make a real and immediate difference to the work of Milton Keynes’ small and local community groups.
Awards are made to both new and existing projects including those supporting health issues, arts and culture, children and young people, the elderly and people with disabilities. The next deadline for applications is 19th June 2009, to find out if your group is eligible please call our Grants Team today on 01908 690276.
