Local Giving

 
Localgiving.com is a new, nationwide initiative through which we can help local community groups and charities raise unrestricted funds for core costs and activities.  Throughout the year, match funding opportunities are available for the groups who are registered and thanks to the recent March Match Challenge, Milton Keynes charities boosted their income by an amazing £35,000. Congratulations to you all!

It was incredibly exciting here at Acorn House watching the national fund-raising thermometer for the March Match Challenge on Localgiving.com rising way beyond expectation. By 9.30am, just 30minutes into the challenge, around £100,000 had already been matched across the UK.
Here in Milton Keynes, the total raised by Milton Keynes Localgiving.com groups reached over £35k! (this is over three times the amount raised in the Christmas match). In the current climate, this is truly phenomenal fund-raising!

It's a great way to raise your profile, have your own personalised web pages, raise additional income and feedback to your donors. The primary aim of the project is to ensure community groups and smaller charities can access and also benefit as much as possible from online fundraising.
MK Junior Ice Hockey Club, MK Storm, joined Localgiving.com back in October.   Special Projects and Chief Fundraiser, Dave Carmichael explained, ‘Localgiving.com makes fund raising so easy! Receiving Gift-Aid on all our donations and occasional £ for £ matched funding, is simply a no brainer – it’s money for nothing! We are now able to direct existing and new donors straight to our Localgiving.com page where they usually donate a minimum of £5, so it’s an extremely attractive incentive.  In no time at all we raised £4,610, then plus Gift Aid and the Christmas Match Fund we’re now at around £6000 – it’s just brilliant!”.

MK Junior Ice Hockey coach children of all ages who through their experience of Ice Hockey learn how to enjoy sport, work as a team, exercise, keep fit and more often than not, make lifelong friends.  The club will use the unrestricted funds they have raised so far to pay for new shirts and to enter this year’s tournaments and competitions.
