Sport Relief Community Cash
Fantastic News for Milton Keynes - Sport Relief Grants are Now Available...
There are still many communities in the UK that suffer from economic and social deprivation and the current economic climate may make this situation worse. For this reason, Comic Relief has allocated £4.5 million to fund projects across the UK which are addressing these issues through a second phase of the 'Local Communities' programme
Comic Relief is pleased to be working with the Community Foundation Network (CFN) and Community Foundations across the UK, and we are very delighted to announce we are one of the partners in the delivery of this programme and will now be administering the Sports Relief Community Cash scheme for the benefit of our voluntary and community sector here in Milton Keynes.
In total, we will be awarding £50,000 in grants up to the value of £1,000 each,
so this is an opportunity for you to receive a substantial cash boost for your current projects.
The programme aims to empower local people, enabling them to create lasting change in their communities. We are accepting applications from charities or non-for-profit community groups run by people directly affected by the issues they are dealing with, who have an annual income of £100k or less.
Priority will be given to small, locally based groups or organisations, in areas of disadvantage that have a clear understanding of the needs of their community.
Under the programme, organisations can apply for funding to:
• increase local services,
• build skills of local people,
• increase community cohesion
• respond to local economic needs
• increase access to sport and exercise for people who face social exclusion and isolation.
Types of activities that might be funded include:
• Project equipment
• Projects offering benefits advice
• Projects combating fuel poverty
• Community consultation exercises
• Projects assisting people to secure emplyment
• Food Co-ops
• Running costs; including salaries, core costs and project costs
• Training for volunteers
• Community sport activities or activities that promote exercise and healthy living.
The deadline for applications is March 16th and the application results will be announced by mid-April.
