25th Birthday Awards Evening

In celebration of our 25th Birthday, 250 guests gathered at Woburn Sculpture Gallery in September recognising the people, the projects and the companies that make our city the thriving and diverse place it is today.

 

We were overwhelmed by the generosity of the donations we received at our Awards Evening - thank you to everyone who gave so generously.  Our fundraising exceeded £48,000 which will go to our 25th Birthday Fund to offer much needed, continued support for the vital work of our local voluntary sector.


Awards on the night included:

- £25,000 STEP Grant from our Margaret Powell Fund to Camphill Communities 
- £25,000 STEP Grant from our Birthday Fund to MK SNAP, which was enhanced further by a £16,500 grant from our Baker Tilly   Fund
- Corporate Philanthropy Award to the team at David Lock Associates who actively champion corporate philanthropy and always go above and beyond to help support our community
- Philanthropy Champion Awards to Peter & Jane Wilson and Naomi Eisenstadt for their tireless commitment in their personal giving
- Outstanding Community Group Award went to MK Christian Foundation for their innovative social enterprises which offer skills and opportunities to vulnerable young people
- Community Champion Awards went to Denise Ilett for her work in Wolverton and Nick Jackson for his vision for Camphill Community
- Outstanding Contribution to the MK Community Foundation Malcolm Brighton for his support and commitment to our work over the last 25 years
- Our 2011 Arts Bursary was awarded to talented young clarinettist Ben Westlake
- The Adams Traditional Crafts Bursaries and Scholarships were awarded to support the artistic endeavours of local artist-blacksmith, Nicholas Packham, stonemason Hannah Vere and art conservator Eleanor Moorhead
We enjoyed superb performances by the Groovy Gecko crew, Wolverton Gilbert & Sullivan Society and the Arabian Gymnasts, thank you for being a part of this special occasion.
We extend very grateful thanks to the Duke & Duchess of Bedford for gifting the Sculpture Gallery as the venue and very special thanks to our sponsors who helped to make the event possible, Baker Tilly, David Lock Associates, Volkswagen Group UK Ltd, TD Group, Lesley Arkin Optometrist and Horn Beam. Thank you also to Scribble Events for their part gift in kind for the stage management, sound and lighting production and also to Reid Photography for capturing the atmosphere of the evening through photographs.
