Bletchley Youth Music Project

Bletchley Youth Music Project gets off to great start...

The Foundation's grant supports this ongoing pilot project which has been developed by a group of young people in the area (with the support of Bletchley Youth Centre) to tackle problems they are facing between rival groups. Still in its early stages, the project has so far focused on recording and song writing. Positive messages are being sent out in the song-writing with a view to making Bletchley a safer and better place for young people.

The longer term aim is to get more funding for the production of a music video. Debbie Scott, Bletchley Youth Centre committee member explains, "the young people taking part are having a great time.  Learning through music is supporting them to develop social skills and broaden cultural horizons in a safe and controlled environment.  It is also offering the opportunity to learn computer and software skills whilst gaining experience in a recording studio, under the guidance of professional musicians and highly skilled youth workers who genuinely care about making a difference.  We are all working to empower these young people and to enrich their lives and their local community".

"The Foundation are delighted to have been able to support this project, and we especially admire the creative way these young people are trying to make a difference.”  Bart Gamber, Grants Director.
